THE FEAR OF SUCCESS
From winning a race against a multitude
To finally experiencing the universe,
Life has its way of pushing us to prevail
And winning seems to be how we show gratitude
From sucking of breasts, to sacking from home
We pick up our sacks to fill with dough
In every nook and cranny
Searching and hunting for money
I awake from slumber to achieve
But is ascendancy really what I need?
That’s the question I ask myself everyday
Yet for glory, I hope and pray
My heart beats with a desire to acquire
Still, I fear the responsibility’s weight, the high expectations with scrutiny, unfamiliar seas and the uncertainty that success may bring to me
Wishing to soar on eagles wings, to taste the achievement’s thrill, and bask in the warm glow of success’ gentle will
Yet, the fear persists, a constant, nagging voice,
That echoes through the mind, a haunting, mournful choice
To play it safe, to hide, to shy away from the test
Or to face the fear, to rise, and let victory find rest
The choice is ours, to make, to take, to own
To let the fear subside, and triumph be known
For in its light, we’ll find the strength to carry on
And the courage to embrace the success we’ve yet to dawn.
